Guyanese sprinter Aliyah Abrams clocked 51.55 seconds- a Season-Best- to finish fifth in her 400m heat at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games on Monday.
Abrams, who has a personal best of 50.20 seconds in the quarter-mile, will have another chance to qualify for the semi-finals when she competes in the repechage round on Tuesday.
Olympic track and field athletes who do not automatically qualify through the first round of action in the 200m, 400m, 800m, 1,500m, 100mH, 110mH and 400mH are granted an additional round to secure their spots into the semi-finals.
Abrams will run out of lane eight in the first heat at 05:20h on Tuesday.
The first place finisher in each repechage heat and the next two fastest will advance to the semi-finals.
